Equipment

The gear you use with Dual Wield Assassin Build will play a crucial role in combat. There are various combos that you can go with.

Below, you will find the gear that should be used with the build. Generally, the lower the item is in the table the lower its priority and the earlier you can get it. The top ones are the best picks.

Weapons

The Rose’s Thorn

The weapon is fairly expensive to acquire. However, it is one of the best daggers in the game damage-wise.

The dagger is available to be bought at Orzammar's Commons from Garin:

You will find him on the right side when walking from the entrance of the Orzammar commons.

The price is 148 gold 52 silver and 50 copper.

Thorn of the Dead Gods

The item has multiple Tiers. Due to these different tiers can be obtained in different locations:

  1. Tier 2 - is obtained in Lothering. Buy it in the Tavern from Barlin. The price is 2 Gold 41 Silver

  2. Tier 3 - they can be stolen from Lord Anwer Dace. You will encounter him in Aeducan Thaig and in Diamond Quarter

  3. Tier 6 - The Drifter's Cache. The cache appears in Caridin's Cross in the deep roads after you examine four rubble piles

    1. The weapon has distinct tiers that cannot be upgraded

  4. Tier 2 - dagger is extremely good early in the game and with and has a low price.

Helm

First Enchanter’s Cowl

Close to the final battle, when preparations are being made in Redcliffe Castle, Bodahn Feddic will give you a chance to buy this item.

The headwear is more powerful than it seems. It can be stacked with other items like The Spellward, etc. to maximize dodge chance and avoid a large number of attacks.

Quicksilver Arming Cap

The helmet can be bought from Legnar in Orzammar Commons. The price is 2 Gold 98 Silver 50 Copper

The helm is perfect for a rogue with Lethality talent.

Free Scout Arming Cap

This light helmet is dropped by killing Taoran Hawkwind. After you killed him in the quest A Change in Leadership. The quest is the last of the blackstone irregulars board quests.

This item is great for your archer or dagger class builds. As a starter item it grants great benefits to your dexterity and has low requirements of strength.

Longrunner’s Cap

There are two main ways to obtain the helmet:

During the quest: Jarvia's Hideout it will drop from Jarvia.

Looted from Jammer's Box. To find the box you will need to do Jammer's Stash quest.

Armor

The Felon’s Coat

Important! The armor cannot be bought after you craft the second set for Wade's Superior Drakeskin armor set. So buy everything you want at this shop before you craft it.

For this armor to appear in Wade's Emporium shop you have to finish three main quests. For example Circle Tower, Brecilian Forest, and Orzammar.

Once this is done, the shop will have the item listed for 88 Gold 95 silver, and 25 copper

This is overall good light armor, providing both stamina regeneration bonus and additional dexterity. I recommend it on most of the rogue builds

Wade’s Superior Drakeskin Leather Armor

Important! You cannot buy anything from Wade's Emporium after you craft the second set for Wade's Superior Drakeskin armor set. So buy everything you want at this shop before you craft it.

Crafted by Wade in Denerim Market District - Wade's Emporium. You will need to provide Drake Scales from the Mountainside Caverns drakes, the second time with additional payment.

The armor is part of the best light armor set in the game. It can be used on most rogue builds.

Shadow of the Empire

The armor can be bought from Legnar in Orzammar Commons. It costs 20 Gold and 85 Silver.

Although the armor is not powerful as other Light chestpieces it is fairly cheap.

Dalish Armor

The armor can be obtained in multiple locations:

  1. Taking Dalish Elf Origin. The character will come equipped with it

  2. Dalish Camp - sold by Varathron for 24 Silver

  3. Looted through the Brecilian Forest

    The armor by itself is nothing special, however, you can easily get the whole Dalish Leather set for a bonus defense.

Gloves

Red Jenny Seekers

There are two main ways to get the item:

  1. Finish The Trial of Crows. The gloves will be rewarded by Master Ignacio

  2. During Black Alley Justice quest you will enter Dark Alley, the gloves can drop from the enemies

    These gloves provide the largest bonus to backstab damage in the game. So they are mandatory for a dual wield rogue.

Backhands

Can be bought from Alimar at Alimar's Emporium. The shop is found in Dust Town, Orzammar. It is sold for 3 Gold 85 Silver

A weaker version of Red Jenny Seekers.

Wade’s Superior Drakeskin Gloves

Angled Strikers

Can be bought from Bodahn Feddic in the Party Camp for 52 Silver.

Dalish Gloves

There are multiple ways to obtain the gloves:

  1. Can buy from Varathorn in Dalish Camp for 8 Silver

  2. Looted from containers in Brecilian Forest

    The gloves are fairly good as they can be obtained cheaply in Dalish Camp. use them on Rogue before you can get the more expensive ones

Boots

Silverhammer’s Taskmasters

The boots are readily available in the Party Camp. Just talk with Bodahn Feddic and buy from him.

These are good early rogue boots that provide a large boost to dexterity compared to other items of this type.

The price of the boots depends on the tier. The cheapest Tier 1 costs 1 Gold. For each further tier the price increases by 30 Silver.

Wade’s Superior Drakeskin Boots

Bard’s Dancing Shoes

Can be bought from Bodahn Feddic in the Party Camp. The price is 10 Gold 35 Silver

These boots are extremely good as they provide a large boost to the defense. Allowing the character to evade more attacks.

Dalish Boots

There are multiple ways to obtain the gloves:

  1. Can buy from Varathorn in Dalish Camp for 9 Silver

  2. Looted from containers in Brecilian Forest

    The boots are a great option for a rogue as they provide a decent boost to the defense. This allows to avoid attacks more often

Accessories/Belts

Andruil’s Blessing

The item can be obtained once you get to Circle Tower. In the first hall of Apprentice Quarters talk with Quartermaster. You can buy it from him for 106 gold and 2 silver.

The belt is one of the most powerful belts in the game. Due to this, it is recommended that you use it for the strongest build in your party.

In reality, you get +2 mana regeneration or +2 stamina regeneration, as the differently named stats stack.

Dalish Hunter’s Belt

Buy this belt in the Party Camp from Bodahn Feddic. The price is 2 Gold 41 Silver

A perfect belt for a warrior or rogue early in the game.

Dalish Leather Belt

The belt can be looted in one of the Sarcophagus for Dalish Elf Origin quest.

The belt provides mana regeneration if equipped on a mage.

Amulets

The Spellward

The amulet can be bought from Bodahn Feddic in the Party Camp. The price is 87 Gold and 67 Silver

This amulet is mostly useful for Tanks and warriors as it can increase their stamina pool.

It can also work for mages, but it will only increase their mana and not regeneration rate.

Magister’s Shield

In Run-Down Back Street of Denerim, you will find the corpse of Ser Friden. This will start The Last Request quest. Go to the Deserted Building that appeared on the Denerim map.

  1. Once you are close to the end: you go down the stairs and there are two doors:

  2. Blood Mage Sanctum - here you will fight the final boss and get the key for the Master Bedroom

  3. Master Bedroom - this is where you find Magister's Shield amulet. However, the door is locked and you either need to clear the Blood Mage Sanctum and get the key from the boss or use rogue to lockpick it.

    This is one of the best amulets in the game that provide bonus defense.

    This amulet is a great option for a tank.

Rings

Key to the City

You will need to do a quest to obtain the ring. Before that, you have to find codexes.

Collecting codex entries

  1. You will first need to collect 5 codex entries all over Orzammar. The first 4 are available the first time you enter the city (besides pictures will also have them marked on the map):

  2. Hall of Heroes - near the entrance to the commons, you will find "Commission Report".

Orzammar Commons - on the bridge to the Proving grounds. You will find "Document":

Dust Town - here you will have encounters with some enemies, after you take them out go further. There you will find "Assembly Directive":

Diamond Quarter - once you enter this area, turn around and walk up the stairs. You will find "Council Writ":

For the last codex entry, you will need to progress the story in Orzammar and select your position for the Candidate in the Proving Grounds. After this, a new section of Proving grounds will unlock.

Go to the right once you enter the area, and you will find "Writ of Censure" in the Hall.

Quest entry "Key to the City"

This quest entry will appear once you get all 5 codexes. It will tell you to go to Assembly and loot the cache. It will be near the entrance in the building:

This is the most versatile ring in the game that can be used on any build.

Dusk Ring

To obtain the ring you will need to enter West Brecilian Forest.

Search for the Grand Oak's clearing and near it you will find an abandoned campsite, where the ring can be looted.

The ring is especially good for rogues with Lethality talent.

Ring of the Warrior

The ring is one of the rewards from Drifter's Cache side quest. The quest is started in Caridin's Cross.

You will have to examine 4 rubbles on the map, after that a marker will appear that leads to the cave where Alpha Ogre is found. There you will find a container with the ring.

Ring is especially useful for warrior characters and rogues who do not have Lethality talent.

Silverleaf

The ring can be obtained from Panowen - a Dalish Elf. You will first have to resolve the Nature of the Beast main story quest, and either side Witherfang or Zatharian.

If you kill Witherfang, this ring will be gifted automatically once you enter West Breciliant Forest after the quest. The dialogue will start automatically.

However, if you cured the illness or sided with Witherfang you would have to persuade her that you killed them. More or less you need a peaceful resolution, otherwise, if you fight her, the ring is unobtainable.

Keeper’s Ring

There are two main ways to acquire this ring:

  1. Dalish Elf Origin quest. The ring will be given by Keeper Marethari

  2. Zatharian's Corpse. You can kill him during the Nature of the Beast quest.
